Jovan Taurean Washington

Jovan Taurean Washington, transitioned unexpectedly on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the age of 33. He was born on May 7, 1990, at Yale New Haven Hospital.

A graduate of James Hillhouse High School, Joe enjoyed playing football, riding dirt bikes, and spending time with close family and friends. He went on to graduate from the New England Tractor Trailer Training School where he obtained his CDL license. He was last employed as a truck driver at Bozzuto’s Inc. of Chesire, CT. Joe was an avid fisher and loved creating his own music. He was creatively known by all as “Joe Buc”. He loved his craft so much that he established a licensed recording company, where he planned to launch his career. He was an amazing man with a heart of gold, and a smile that lit up the room.

Joe was a proud and dedicated father to his four children: Prince, Mackenzie, Wolfgang, and Assad Washington. He is survived and deeply missed by his parents, Gladys and Richard Washington of New Haven, CT. His life and memory are forever cherished by his siblings; Lakeshia (Dante) Gray of New Haven, CT, Theresa (Matt) Seawright of Meriden, CT, Richard Washington Jr. of New Haven, CT, and Darnell Washington of Seymour, CT. His memory lives on with his grandfather, Walter Sullins of Bridgeport, CT, 11 nieces and nephews (Amahri, Dante Jr., Jayden, Paityn, Rishad, Sanii, Rayne, Richard, Ryann, Zora, and Laila),  and a host of family and friends.

He is predeceased by his grandmothers, Julia Cohen and Mary T. Washington, and paternal grandfather James Ross.

A celebration of the life of our beloved Joe will be held at Breakthrough Church, 481 Shelton Avenue, Hamden, CT 06514 on Friday December 22, 2023, at 11am. Viewing will be held from 10-11am. Interment to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
