Reflections of Me

My name is Joyce Elm Jacobs. I was born in New Haven, CT on March 28, 1954 to Geneva O. Elm and Alex Elm. While at Wilbur Cross High school or Ashmun Street, I enjoyed listening to records, reading, meditation, and sports. After high school, I received my Associates Degree from South Central Community College in Business Administration and I really enjoyed my studies at UCONN.

As I progressed through life, I worked at United Illuminating for 25 years and during  this time I married Danny Jacobs. Together we shared Chalyce Jacobs, our only daughter.

I enjoyed sewing, dancing, painting and most art forms. Oftentimes, after a long day I’d throw my purse on the couch and play Diana Ross. My family knew that it was time to dance. Those were some Dynamite times!

I cherished the most precious times with my Mother Geneva Elm, my sisters Theresa and Barbara Elm, brothers Montgomery, Richard, and Roy Elm. My neices and nephew are dear to my heart, Aisha Elm, Yvonne Sears, Eboni Elm, Royale Elm, Roysha Elm, and Tyran Elm.

On the morning of February 6, 2025 I transitioned to my new life. As I reflect on my heartfelt conversation with Chay, take a look in the mirror, see your hopes, your dreams, and put your Faith in Action!
