Justina Margarita Cerda, born September 5th, 1969, passed away on December 25th, 2023 at the age of 54. Margarita was predeceased by her father Placido Paulino and mother AnaDelia Nunez. She is survived by her 3 daughters, son and husband as well as brothers and sisters. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength that will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her and love her.

Margarita was a devoted wife to Jose Cerda and a mother to her three daughters and son, Ana Suleyka Cerda, Janelis M Cerda, Denisel Cerda, and Jennsy Cerda. Her children were her greatest joy and pride. She raised strong, independent and connected adults, instilling the importance of family in each. Her love for her husband was palpable as she was always by his side and him by hers through good times and bad times. She was also known for her compassion towards others. Margarita spent most of her young adult life not only working to provide for her children and raise them, but also whenever someone was in need she readily offered to help in any capacity. Her home provided refuge to many throughout the years at one time or another. Despite many challenges in her life, she continued to demonstrate an incredible strength that she has passed on to her children. Her memory will forever be a source of inspiration for strength and compassion to her beloved family.

Beyond her family, Margarita was known for her ability to be genuine towards others and celebrate opportunities and be the life of the party. She had a remarkable ability to celebrate with others any occasion and enjoy each moment by sharing a beer, a great life story and spending time with them, making them feel welcomed.

A formal wake will be held on Tuesday January 2 nd , 2024 starting promptly at 10am at Colonial Funeral home, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden. If you wish to pay your respects and say goodbye in a more conservative manner for the first hour. At 11am, a memorial service will be held- she wanted her life to be celebrated not mourned. Following the conclusion of the memorial service, burial service will be held at Evergreen cemetery.
