Mr. Larry Lionel Greene departed this life on Saturday, April 10, 2021 in New Haven, CT. Born to the late Richard Irvy and Elderess Barbara Greene-Beauford on April 23, 1965 in New Haven, CT. He received his education in the West Haven School System, where he was a lifelong resident until he married his high school sweetheart, Shawne L. Lumpkin-Greene on July 19, 2016.

Larry was raised in Union Temple UFWB under the tutelage of the late Bishop Herman A. Epps, and on November 3, 2013, he became a member of Christian Union Full Gospel Outreach

Ministries under the tutelage of Apostle Eunice E. Tucker, and now Pastor Bernadette Tucker- Moore. While under their leadership, Larry was a member of the Christian Union Men on the

Move for God, Usher Board, and Men’s Praise Team. Larry loved to sing, his favorite song was “Every Praise is to Our God” by Bishop Hezekiah Walker. To know Larry, was to love him for his smile, caring heart, and an awesome character he carried. In his younger years, he had a love for basketball which he played, and wore his number 30 white and blue jersey proudly. He loved to cook, and his first job was at Chuck Steak House which gave him a love for cooking steak, he also had a love for fishing, and hunting on Friday nights with his belated uncle, George Coleman. As he became older, Larry learned how to cut hair and became a barber for many, he had a love for art (he could draw some beautiful pictures), taking pictures, reading, and study his Bible (his favorite scriptures were, Isaiah 26:3, and 40:10). He attended classes at the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System and received a Certificate in Recognition of Completion of the People Empowering People (PEP) program in 2013, where he later became involved in community outreach work where he worked as a Peer Supporter and helped in Customer Service.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Shawne L. Lumpkin-Greene; Parents, Cain and Elder Barbara Beauford of West Haven, CT, One (1) brother, Robert C. Greene(Audra) of New Haven, CT; Two (2) sisters, Barbara D. Greene-Robinson of New Haven, CT, and Elder Cherie’ I. Greene of West Haven, CT; a special cousin/sister, Rayshell Green of West Haven, CT; Four (4) step-sisters, Beverly Ann Beauford-Langley of New Haven, CT, Paulette, Rhonda, and Tanya Beauford all of Indianapolis, IN, One (1) Sister in law, Kimberly Stokes-Holder

(Ruben) of Newport Richey, FL; Two (2) brother in laws, Donald Lumpkin (Fran) of Clinton, CT, and Darwin Lumpkin (Sunghye). Twenty-eight (28) nieces, and nephews, three (3) great nieces, and two (2) great nephews. Five (5) aunts; Annie Lee Hunter of Chicago, IL, Claudia Foy, of W. Haven, CT, Louise Morant of Pittsburg, PA, Mary Lee Young of Orville, AL, and Minnie Bell Washington of Hamden, CT. Special God-brothers, and God-Sisters; Debra Smith Stoner (Calvin), Debbie Thomas, Elder Michael Carter, and Elder David Foreman. A host of cousins, god-brothers, god-sisters, and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents; Willie and Virginia Mollett-Greene, and paternal grandparents, one (1) son, Abraham Greene, brother-in-law, Winfred Robinson, and nephew, Preston Greene.

A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at  Christian union Full Gospel Church, 426 Washington Avenue West Haven at 11am. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
