Mr. Leon Bowman, 56, of New Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully from natural causes on September 2, 2025, at his home. Born on September 5, 1968, in New Haven, he was the cherished son of Edna R. Bowman of New Haven and the late Harold Young.

Leon was a proud graduate of Hillhouse High School. Throughout his life, he worked in various roles, including as a paperboy, at a factory in Hamden, CT, and as a security guard at St Ralph’s Hospital. A devoted member of his church, Leon found joy in his faith, music, and fitness, often spending time at the gym lifting weights.

Known for his humor, kindness, and outgoing personality, Leon had a bubbly presence that brightened any room. He was always ready with a joke, a word of encouragement or heartfelt advice. His love for family and friends knew no bounds, and he left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Leon is survived by his children. Dominique Bowman, Alexis Liptrop. and his adopted daughter Lashonda and granddaughter, Malaysia Williams. He is also survived by his siblings Alfret Bowman of New Haven. Artelia Pickens, Curtis D. Bowman, Sandra Jackson, and Ebony Caraway: his niece Quanella Bowman-Dingle; his favorite aunt Jeannette Willoughby: cousins Desiree Ford, Lord Taylor, and Novella Gount: and cherished friends Jonathan Ellis, Ralph Walter, and Danny Parker. He is remembered fondly by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ida Bowman and Jerry Bowman, Bessie Young and Clarence Young, and by beloved aunts and uncles Tinnie Cunningham, Willie Bowman, Margaret Young, Frankie Young. and Roosevelt “Pee Wee” Young.

Leon’s joyful spirit, love, and laughter will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A celebration of Leon’s life will be held on Saturday September 20, 2025 at 10am at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Viewing in Colonial from 9-10am. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
