Lillian M. Richardson Sunrise: May 31, 1930 – Sunset: March 15, 2025

Lillian M. Richardson peacefully transitioned from this life on March 15, 2025, at the age of 94. Lillian was born in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Georgia McNeely and James Richardson Sr. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of the Lord.

A proud graduate of West Haven High School, Lillian dedicated much of her life to serving others. She was employed by the New Haven Board of Education, where she touched many lives, working in various roles, including with Title 1/Chapter 1 and Grandparents on the Move. Lillian’s love for children was evident throughout her career, and she received numerous awards for her hard work and unwavering dedication.

Lillian was a longtime member of Bethel AME Church here in New Haven, where she actively contributed to many ministries. She served on the Board of Stewards, Member of Lillian B. Derricks Women’s Missionary Society, Senior Choir, Lay Organization and Stewardess Board as well as Church School Teacher, and Class Leader. Her selfless spirit and devotion to helping others were deeply rooted in her faith, and she continuously gave of herself without expecting anything in return.

Lillian’s legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and all who had the honor of knowing her. She leaves behind her beloved brother, Lorenzo McNeely, and her children: Ernest (Nancy) Richardson Sr.,

Robert (Debra) Chambers Sr., William Chambers, James (Denise) Travis, Michael (Brenda) Richardson, Norman Richardson, Cheryl Richardson, and Kevin (Sandra) Richardson). She also leaves 18 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends.

She was predeceased by her sister, Carol McNeely, her brother, James Richardson, her son, Frank Chambers Jr., her great-grandson, Romeo Tahj Simmons, and Ward “WC” Williams, faithful presence in the lives of his children.

Lillian M. Richardson will be remembered for her kindness, faith, and the love she shared with everyone she encountered. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and service. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.

Rest in peace, Lillian. You have truly earned your Heavenly reward.

A celebration of Lillian’s life will be held on Friday March 28, 2025 at 11am at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe Street, New Haven, CT. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven, CT. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
