Luddie Boyd affectionately known as SNOOP of New Haven, Connecticut left his earthly home on September 19, 2024.
Luddie was born on March 24, 1927 in Shorter Alabama, the third child of Cleveland and Rochelle Boyd. He attended Prairie Farm School in Shorter, Alabama. He then married Naomi (Polly) Ligon on May 16, 1953. During 1952, Luddie served his country in the US Army during World War II at Fort McPherson in Atlanta Georgia receiving the National Defense Service Medal.
Leaving Alabama in 1954, making his home in Connecticut. Luddie secured employment at Olin corporation (Winchester) as a machine operator for 40 years. Retiring from Olin and then marrying Albertha (Bert) Belton. Luddie loved the Lord being a faithful member at New Birth in Christ for 31 years. He served as a deacon he loved to sing! During his quiet time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shopping with his two sisters Lurena and Lucille.
He leaves behind a daughter, Theresa D Boyd of Hamden CT, two sons, Kevin L Boyd of Hamden and Darrell Boyd of New Haven, CT, six grandchildren, Benjamin Carpenter, twelve great grandchildren, three sisters, Lurena Pagon, Ann Laurel Grimes and Eula Mae (Kenneth) McKoy. Two brothers, Leon (Lucille) Boyd of Georgia and Willie AJ. (Pearline) Boyd of New Haven. One sister-in-law, Ann Terry, and his aide, Josie. Predeceased by his parents, one son, Kenneth Boyd, one daughter, Michelle Boyd-Carpenter, three sister, four brothers, his wife, Albertha Boyd, previous wife, Naomi Boyd, one grandson and one great grandson.
A celebration of Luddie’s life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11am at Colonial Funerals 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Viewing in Colonial from 10am to 11am. Burial to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
