Manette Charlane Gray, 61 of Hamden Connecticut peacefully departed this earth on January 12, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital, where she was surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 8th, 1961 to the late Inez and James Gray. Manette was a devoted member of Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, when in her youth was in the choir, on the IBC usherboard, and was a debutante queen.
Manette was a graduate of Hamden High School, class of 1978 and later continued her education at Northeastern University and Colorado Tech, earning her associates degree in Business Administration.
Manette was employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Company for over ten years, where she was a customer service representative and specialized in billing and coding.
Manette will always be remembered as a reserved, punctual person, who loved to shop and play a variety of casino games; her favorite being spades. Manettes hobbies included anything craft related. She took pride in starting a crocheting business called, “My Comfy Baby” that gained a devoted following amongst crochet lovers.
She loved watching basketball and was a huge Lebron James fan. Manette was also an avid listener of jazz and R&B. Some of her favorite artists were Kem, Mint Condition, Kenny G, and Michael Jackson.
Manette is survived by her three siblings, Lamont Gray, Gisele Gray and Eric Gray. She also leaves to cherish her nieces and nephew, LaShawn Gray, Bryanna Anderson, Ebony Miller- Bolden, Asia Patton, Tamara Gray, Lamont Gray Jr and Knyah Patton as well as a host of great nieces and nephews. Manette also leaves to cherish countless extended family and peers whom she loved dearly.
Manette leaves to cherish her beloved friends Cynthia Patterson, Claudia Barnes, Casey Joseph, Linda Boykins- Freeman, and Sandy Shipman.
Manette was predeceased by her mother Inez Gray, father James Gray, and grandparents.
A celebration of Manette’s life will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11am at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
