Marcus Deon Allen, devoted husband to Gabrielle and loving father to Doren and Aria, departed this life and entered into the glory of the Lord on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Marcus was was born on March 26, 1983 in the city of Waterbury, CT, to the late Pastor John and Barbara Allen. He was educated in the Waterbury School System and graduated from Wilby High School in 2001. Upon graduation, Marcus attended the University of New Haven.
From an early age, Marcus had a deep affinity for music, and he began his study of the art early in his childhood with the piano and fell in love! Marcus married the love of his life, Myra Gabrielle French, in Waterbury, CT, on June 15th 2014. With this union he gained an additional family in the French’s, and together they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Doren Arabella, age 9, and Aria Annabella, age 6.
Marcus was highly accomplished in his life and career. At the time of his passing, he was a Sony Music Entertainment producer; a member of The Recording Academy and a multi-platinum Grammy and ASCAP Award-winning producer; partner of Heavy Weights music production company; a Master Artist and Instructor of the Jazz & Contemporary Music Ensemble at Neighborhood Studios; a Teaching Artist with Arts for Learning Connecticut; Musical Director for The Judah Initiative Fellowship of Churches; Keyboardist and Music Minister at Gospel Tabernacle Ministries International of Waterbury, CT; Marcus was a member of the Norden Club; and he was also certified in the Six Kingian Principles of Non-Violence through the CT Center for Non-violence.
Marcus loved to laugh and often found joy in sharing stories with his family and friends. He cherished spending quality time with his loved ones, especially his wife and daughters. Marcus thoroughly enjoyed creating special memories during Daddy daughter days and special family outings. Marcus also enjoyed cooking from time to time, resting on the Sabbath and making trips to the beach – even during the winter. He was a master storyteller who loved talking about everything and making folks laugh! His warmth and love for life were evident in the way he embraced simple pleasures and meaningful moments with those he held dear.
Words cannot truly express how dearly Marcus will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Myra Gabrielle of Waterbury, CT, his two beautiful daughters, Doren and Aria, his mother Iris Allen, his five sisters Tracy Ann Allen, Joanne Zambrano, Jacqueline Rodriguez, Jennifer Shappy and Laquita Pruden, his brother Gamaine Stacey Lott, his mother Val Pruden, father in law and mother-in-law Bishop Lionel French and Dories O. French and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father John Allen, his mother Barbara Allen, his brother John Darryl Allen, and his father Mark Dale Lott. Despite our heavy hearts and the emptiness we feel as a result of this great loss, we truly believe that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We take peace in knowing that Marcus had a personal relationship with the Lord and is now in eternal rest with Him. We will continue to honor his legacy, and cherish his memory for years to come.
A celebration of Marcus’s life will be held on Friday December 20, 2024 at 11:00am at Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ 68 Berkeley Avenue, Waterbury. Burial to follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Funeral services have been entrusted to Colonial Funerals, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury CT and James R Sanders, Funeral Director.
