On July 26, 2021, Marcus Daniel Gibson Sr went home to be with the Lord. Marcus was born on March 3, 1980, in Buffalo, New York to Lillie M. Richardson Gibson and the late Harold T. Gibson Sr. Marcus was mostly educated in the New Haven Public School system, and later graduated from Hamden High School. He went on to receive his CDL license from New England Tractor Trailer Training School where he also was an instructor. Marcus enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Buffalo Bills.
Marcus was previously employed at Yale New Haven Hospital and Metro North Railroad. He later transitioned to the transportation industry where he had worked as a truck driver for the last 15 years. At the time of his death, Marcus was employed at ALC Freight as a truck driver, dispatcher, and transportation manager. Marcus aspired to one day open his own trucking business.
Marcus enjoyed spending time with his sons, reading books, writing, watching movies, playing basketball, and travelling. He was an avid James Bond fan. Prior to his passing, he had most recently travelled to Dubai. Marcus also spent time volunteering by feeding the homeless. Marcus was loved by many and had a beautiful smile and a contagious laugh. Those who knew Marcus well, knew that he was a private person and a family-oriented man.
Marcus leaves to cherish his memory his sons Marcus Gibson Jr, and Mathue Gibson, his mother Lillie M. Richardson Gibson; his brothers Harold Gibson Jr. (JoAnn) and Calvin Gibson; his sisters Kimberly Gibson, Lynette Gibson, Ruth Gibson, Esther Kendall (Keith), Rachel Gibson, and Veronica Gibson. Marcus also leaves his nieces Angel Gibson, Arianna Gibson Hayes and Trinity Gibson and nephews Tristan Gibson Sr. and Tristan (TJ) Gibson Jr. Marcus was predeceased by his father Harold T. Gibson Sr. and his brother Nathan Gibson. Marcus leaves a host of family and friends who loved him more than he will ever know.
A Celebration of Marcus’ life will be held on Monday August 2, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church, 630 State Street, New Haven at 11am. Visitation will be held in the Church from 10am-11am. Burial will follow at Hamden Plains Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
