Markise Anthony Drayton was born on January 1, 2001, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Tamara Richardson and Michael Drayton. He graduated from Hamden High School in Hamden, Connecticut, and pursued his passion for videography—a craft he deeply loved and dedicated himself to. Markise also worked at Delta Airlines, where he excelled in an environment that allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life.

Markise was known for his loyalty, sense of humor, and selflessness. As a brother, he brought laughter and love, always supporting his siblings and brightening their days. As a son, he worked tirelessly to make his family proud and inspire those around him. Markise had a remarkable gift for uplifting others, offering words of encouragement and acts of kindness without hesitation. Markise’s joyful spirit and genuine care for others made him a beloved friend to many. His warmth, humor, and love for life will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Markise is predeceased by his mother, Tamara Richardson; his maternal grandmother, Sylvia Richardson and his paternal grandparents, William Drayton and Gloria Drayton; and his uncle, Ronald Richardson Jr. He is survived by his father, Michael Drayton; his maternal grandfather Ronald Richardson and grandmother Mattie McFadden ; his aunt, Renee Richardson; and his siblings: Mikel Drayton, Myesha Poteat, Diasha Johnson, Michael Drayton Jr., Cara Guess, Andrea McFadden, and Markus Drayton. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Markise will always be remembered as a loving, caring, and selfless soul who left an indelible mark on the world. His spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us of the importance of kindness, laughter, and love. “You were the beautiful melody in the rhythm of our lives, Markise. The music of your life lives on.”

A celebration of Markise’s Life will be held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden at 11am. Viewing in Colonial from 10am-11am. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunersls.com.
