Martha Ann Walker, age 69, of Hamden, was called home on July 13, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital (St Raphael Campus), after a brief illness. She was the beloved partner of David Scudder Jr., of Hamden. Loving mother of her two sons Kenneth Tate of South Carolina and Jimmie Walker Tate III and his wife Shelby Tate of New Haven. Also survived by her sister Molly Bernette and Family of Ohio. She was married to the late Jimmy Lee Tate Jr., they divorced in 1977. She was born in Buffalo, New York on December 6, 1954 and was soon adopted along with her adopted sister Molly by James and Annette Walker, and she resided in New Canaan, Connecticut. She was an adventurist child and was sent to a private school Fieburg Academy in Maine, to further her education. She went on to pursue a career as an accountant and work or a locale answering service for Doctor’s Lawyers, etc. She also worked as an assistant manager for Office Max at the Hamden Store and also Toy’s “R” Us in Hamden. She also worked for the town of Hamden at the Keefe Center as a receptionist and the children’s daycare center. She loved to talk with people and was a very helpful person to a lot of people. She loved puzzles, game shows, and her board games. She also loved writing in her journal. Martha will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Martha’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 11am in Colonial Funeral Home, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden. Viewing at Colonial from 10-11am. Burial will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to North Shore Animal League. Condolences may be express at colonialfunerals.com.
