Marvin Lamont Scipio-Goodwin, age 44, of New Haven, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 25, 2023. Marvin was born January 15, 1979 in New Haven, CT., to parents, Jimmy Scipio and Priscilla Goodwin of New Haven, CT. He was raised in the Fair Haven area and later moved to the Newhall Ville area where he grew up. As a child he resided in Richmond, Virginia for a few years. Marvin attended Columbus elementary, Fair Haven Middle and Jackie Robinson Middle School. He obtained his GED while incarcerated in his early 20’s.

Marvin was loved by everyone that knew him. He loved to hold a conversation and he was a longtime fan of the football team the San Francisco 49er’s. He loved to cook and worked as a restaurant cook for over 20 years. He was last employed at TGI Friday’s for the past 10 years. Marvin leaves to cherish his memories; 2 children Son Travon Evans and daughter Nyasiah Goodwin both of New Haven, CT., 1 grandson Trayvion Evans of New Haven, CT. 6 Brothers Marcus, Derrick, Damien, Davon, Maurice and Daquan Goodwin all of New Haven, CT. 2 adopted brothers Michael and Jesse Goodwin of New Haven, CT. 5 sister’s Monique, Monica and Darnisha Goodwin all of New Haven, CT. Pamela and Doris Scipio of Darlington SC. Nieces Kanai Goodwin Kellman, Brielle Wilkerson, and Kayleigh Moore all of New Haven, CT. Nephew’s Kysean Goodwin Kellman, Derrick Jr., Maurice Jr. and Damien Goodwin Jr. all of New Haven, CT. Aunt Madelyn Goodwin of New Haven, CT. and Uncle Robert Goodwin (Sandra) of El Paso, Texas. A host of aunts, uncles and cousins of Winston Salem, North Carolina. And a host of cousins and long-time friends of New Haven, CT. Marvin was pre-deceased by Maternal grandparents Robert and Dorothy Goodwin. Paternal grandparents Norman and Emma Scipio and maternal and paternal aunts and uncles. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of many that loved him.

A Celebration of Marvin’s life will be held on Monday January 15, 2024 at Salvation and Deliverance Church, 127 Thompson Street, New Haven at 12pm (Noon). Viewing in Church from 11am-12pm. Condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfunerals.com.
