Mary Elizabeth Campbell passed away on April 21, 2025. She was born on December 20, 1942 in Georgetown, South Carolina.
she was a dedicated church member which also led to her becoming the District Missionary of the 2nd Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ for decades until she stepped down due to her health. She attended Ramsey Memorial Church of God in Christ in CT when she migrated from South Carolina and was most recently a member of Sims Memorial.
Her God fearing presence and faith was surpassing and the foundation of her family and her beautiful life. She drew people from all walks of life closer to God and he was her rock until the end. She loved the church as a result and served in a heavy capacity to show her dedication to her lord and savior Jesus Christ.
She was known to her grands, great grands and youth as Nana, by her nieces and nephews Aunt Liz, siblings Liz, and church Mother. She was a God fearing woman who trusted God with her all and died peacefully in her home as she always wanted to.
She was predeceased by her late husband Victor Campbell, son Roger Singleton (predeceased spouse Loria Ann Knowlin-Singleton), brothers (Predeceased) Cleveland R Johnson , Jerome Johnson , Odell Johnson, Joe McCray, Anthony Coachman, Leroy Coachman, sisters (Predeceased) Ophelia Johnson , Virginia Kate, Diane Coachman, (Living) Lena Mae Johnson, Vester Coachman, Roosevelt Johnson, Queen Louise Thomas, granddaughter Lakena Singleton, and survived by her granddaughters Rhonda and Latice Singleton and her great-grand children Malachi J. Fable, Julieta L. Millet, Felix R. Tsekpodoe and a host of sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family.
She was also a dedicated charwoman upon her migration to CT to one of Connecticut’s most prominent lawyers Attorney James Burroughs Lyons (predeceased) when she migrated and until he passed away in 2020.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Tuesday April 29, 2025 at 11am at Colonial Funeral 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am.
