Mrs. Mary E. Reeves, 85 entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 25, 2024 at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Deacon Ether Reeves Jr, for over 55 years before his passing in 2017.
Mary was born on May 2, 1939 in Troy, Alabama, the daughter of the late Samuel and Gussie Mae (Bimbo) Pleass.
She was a homemaker and caregiver for her family and for many children in the neighborhood. She enjoyed cooking, reading, watching old western movies and watching sports. Her favorite teams were the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys and most of all the UConn Huskies.
Mary was a lifelong member of Zion Baptist Church where she attended until her health began to fail.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Danielle (Deacon Vernon) Brown Jr. of Waterbury and three sons, Ethan (Kathy) Reeves of Virgina, Christopher (Trena) Reeves of Waterbury, Damien Reeves of New Jersey. She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren (Anthony, Monique, Michelle, Derron, Nicole, Gregory, Taylor, Marcellus, Christopher Jr, Morgan, Daniyah, Kalice, and Chelsie), 15 Great Grandchildren (J’hymel, Zeyna, Stacie, Sariyah, Josiah, Jordan, Zylisha, Ayden, Zaria, Sarah, Ariana, Jayseon, Tylia, Cross and Tristan) and 1 Great Great Grandchild (Ny’asia). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all of whom brought her much happiness.
She was pre deceased by two brothers; Robert Williams and Melvin Thomas.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday December 4, 2024 at 11am at Zion Baptist Church. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Funeral services have been entrusted to Colonial Funerals, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury CT and James R Sanders, Funeral Director. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
