Nicole “Nikki” Smith

“Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt”

Nicole “Nikki” Smith, 59, entered into eternal rest on June 11, 2026. While her passing was sudden, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Nikki was born on June 20, 1966, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to the late Harold “Smitty” Smith and Mary L. “Tootsie” Monteiro Smith.

Nikki had a wonderful sense of humor, a gift for impersonating people, and was never afraid to speak her mind. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her beloved granddaughter, Jhamiah, who was the light of her life. Together they cooked, sang, enjoyed beauty treatments, and watched television. She also enjoyed feeding family and friends, reading her Bible, and sharing her faith with those around her. Her home was always a place of comfort, laughter, and love.

A born-again Christian, Nikki trusted God throughout her life and found strength and peace in His Word. She was formerly a devoted member of Community Tabernacle Outreach Center in Waterbury, CT for more than 20 years.

Over the years, Nikki worked at Peter Paul, Inc., Walmart, and Dufor Transportation Bus Company.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, Emilio Cardona, Christopher Wiggins, and Edward Penn; her cherished granddaughter, Jhamiah Wiggins; her sisters, Deborah (Smith) Duarte, Dawn Smith, and Leslie Smith; her nephews, Kevin Smith and André N. Richardson; her nieces, LaToya M. Smith and Brianna Smith; her great-nephews, Kaeleb Smith and Bentlee J. Smith; her great-niece, Bria’Lee Wallace; her aunt Dinora Monteiro of Boston; her godfather, Milton J. Alves of Marion, MA, and her godmother Mema Cardoza; her first cousins Jacqueline Baldwin (James) of North Carolina, Lori Thomas (Theodis), whom she loved like a sister, Daniel Monteiro, Jr., and Brendan “BJ” Monteiro; her cousins Domingo Robert Alves, Gloria Bolton Coney, Crystal Bolton, Brandon Williams, Tanya “Tammy” Bolton, Demory Bolton and Monica Dupree; the Mines/Stavrou cousins of Chicago, IL, the Ribeiro/Roderick/Alves cousins of Massachusetts, the Barbosa/Gomes cousins of Waterbury, Norman and Lulu Corey and a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold “Smitty” Smith and Mary L. “Tootsie” Monteiro Smith; her first cousins Charles “Peter” Mazon, Justina “Juicy” Johnson, and Darlene Mazon; her uncles Henry, Daniel, and Alfred Monteiro; and her infant great-nephew Kameron Elias Smith.

Though Nikki’s physical presence will be deeply missed, her love, faith, strength, and the memories she created with those she loved will remain with us forever.

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

— Psalm 30:5
