Patrick Leon Batchelor

Patrick Leon Batchelor, Sr. passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2022, at the age of 38. He was born to loving parents Roseann Batchelor and Patrick Leon Spears on June 25, 1983. Patrick (affectionately called “Diddy” by many) enjoyed listening to a variety of musical genres, having a joke, and wearing the most infectious smile. He was extremely likable and had no reservations about telling individuals that he loved them. Despite his obstacles, Patrick remained adamant on continuing on his road to a better life, to the point where he earned his GED. To his family and supporters, this was an extremely proud accomplishment and a model of endurance. As a diligent worker, he relished his employment as a landscaper. He is survived by his mother Roseann Batchelor of New Haven, Connecticut, and his father Patrick Leon (Sharron) Spears of Greenville, North Carolina. His sons Patrick Leon Batchelor, Jr., Dion Robinson (both of New Haven, CT), and Future Jones (of the Bronx, NY) will cherish his memory. He is survived by four sisters: Tyeese (New Haven, CT.) and Patricka Newton (Charlotte, NC. ), as well as Lashawn and Lawanda Spears (Greenville, NC). A brother, Paul Spears of Greenville, North Carolina; a maternal grandfather, Robert Stovall of Montgomery, Alabama; three aunts, Frenchie Vaughn and Barbra Batchelor of New Haven, Connecticut; and Deborah Law of Hamden, Connecticut; and three uncles, James Joyner of Lexington, Kentucky. Kevin Batchelor (New Haven, Connecticut) and Leroy Batchelor (Durham, North Carolina). A nephew, Jakai Newton, and a niece, Kadence Newton, both of New Haven, Connecticut; as well as a slew of other relatives and friends. His maternal grandma Annie Ruth Batchelor and paternal grandparents Luedean and Wilson Spears predeceased him. His family and friends have been left with a tremendous void in their hearts. Patrick’s family and friends, on the other hand, take solace in the fact that he is in God’s hands. He was loved here, but God loved him the most. We, the Batchelor family, would want to convey our gratitude to everyone for their acts of generosity and displays of love toward our family, in whatever capacity. We love you, and may God continue to bless you all. We would want to express our gratitude to Pastor V. Lyons, the Thomas Chapel Church of Christ, and the Colonial Funerals Staff.

A celebration of Patrick’s life will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11am at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
