Paul M. McCoy, a lifelong resident of Hamden, Connecticut, passed away on May 14, 2024 in Woodbridge, Connecticut. He was born on November 23, 1952, the son of the late J. Armond and Frances (Malbone) McCoy, and was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Sollee (Freidler) McCoy.

He received a BA from Quinnipiac University and an MBA from the University of New Haven.  He also held a Series 7 Licenseissued by FINRA.

Paul was a man of many talents and interests and his career spanned multiple disciplines.  He was an independent Website designer and a finance instructor at Southern Connecticut State University, as well as a professional videographer. Paul’s greatest love was music, songwriting, performing and recording, and he played in many bands based in Southern Connecticut and Boston, sometimes with his brother, Armond.  An accomplished keyboardist including piano, organ and multiple synthesizers.He also played saxophone and guitar.  A versatile musician, he was proficient in varied styles including jazz, R&B, rock, pop and classical. Paul’s playing experience included Freddie Parrish and the Five Satins and Rhapsody. Paul was also an avid model electric train and classic model car hobbyist.

He is survived by his brother, Armond McCoy, of Beverly, Massachusetts, and his stepchildren, Ruth Friedler, of West Haven, Connecticut and Michael Friedler, of New Haven, Connecticut plus an extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday July 1, 2024 at 10:30am at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden CT. Visitation from 10-10:30am Interment to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
