Loving Husband, Father, Uncle and Friend
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter George Chen on November 22,2020 at Saint Mary’s Hospital at the age of 55 years old. Peter was the loving husband of LaTanya Chen. Peter was born on December 02, 1964 in Stony Hill, Jamaica to the late Petrolyn Small and Victor Chen. Peter attained his formal education from Stony Hill All-Age School and Norman Manley High School. Peter later migrated to Canada and then making his way to the United States. In 1995 Peter met his wife LaTanya Battle and later married her in 2000. Peter and LaTanya had three children together who would join his other two children. Peter had a passion for cooking. He worked as a cook for Cobra’s Restaurant before its closing. Peter was hired by many to cook for events which he loved to do. His meals would touch your soul. Peter was a loving and proud husband and father. He always put his family first. He pushed for his children to get their education and stay on the right path. Peter was a family man and enjoyed hosting holiday dinners, cookouts and get together with his wife. He was the grill master of the family. Peter was a caring and kind man. He had an affectionate laugh and heart of gold. He would do anything for you without complaints. Peter is survived by his loving wife LaTanya Chen; his children Nadia Chen, Dwayne Chen, Malik Chen, Tamia Chen and Micah Chen. One granddaughter Liara. His sisters Kathleen Chen, Doreen Chen, Susan Chen and Janet Chen; Brothers Trevor Stewart, Patrick Chen, Fredrick Chen and Robert Chen. His aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Peter was predeceased by his parents: Petrolyn Small and Victor Chen, Sisters: Sonia Small and Veta Chen, Brothers: Richard Chen and Michael Chen. Peter loved his family and will truly be missed by all who knew him.
A walk through will be held on Friday December 4, 2020 at Colonial, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury from 11am-12pm. Funeral Service will follow at 12pm. (Noon). with James R. Sanders as Funeral Director. COVID-19 mandates will be honored. Masks will be required. Condolences may be expressed at colonalfunerals.com.
