Priscilla E. Washington, age 80, of New Haven, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 2, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Priscilla departed this life in the comfort of her faith, joining her Lord and Savior with grace and peace. Born on February 26, 1945, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Priscilla was the beloved daughter of the late Essie Lawson and Charles Lewis. Raised in a close-knit family, she carried the values of strength, loyalty, and love throughout her life.
Priscilla worked for over 25 years at Pratt & Whitney, where she built not only a career but also a reputation for being dedicated, reliable, and hardworking. Her commitment to providing for her family never wavered she was a rock, a provider, and a nurturer.
Family was the heart of Priscilla’s world. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren especially during holidays and gatherings, where her warm presence and joyful laughter filled every room. She had an unforgettable sense of humor and was known for her quick wit and legendary comebacks. A natural comedian, she could bring a smile to anyone’s face.
In her leisure time, Priscilla enjoyed playing cards and Pokeno, knitting, and crocheting. These quiet pastimes brought her peace and joy. Her favorite show to watch was Walker Texas Ranger and she would refer to him as “ MY MAN”.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and laughter. Forever cherishing her memory are: Her devoted daughter, Dorothy Washington, who remained faithfully by her side until the very end . Her nine loving grandchildren: Demetrice Lewis, Terrell (Julisa) Washington , Tyrese Washington, Brandon Lewis, Maurice Lewis, Charona Lewis, Tamala (Shaun) Hasell-Felder, Michael Lewis, and Candace Hasell, Nine cherished great-grandchildren, One precious great-great-grandchild, Her goddaughter, Wanda Berryman and survived by her sister in law Tootie Strother. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will continue to celebrate her life and spirit.
Priscilla is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Walter Wayne “Boo-Boo” Washington, and two of her three children, Lisha E. Lewis and Walter Wayne Washington, Jr. She is also predeceased by her siblings: her sister Patricia, and brothers Cecil, Cuthburt, and Charles Lawson; and by her grandchildren Kira Washington and Thaddeus Hasell. Priscilla’s life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and resilience. Her memory will continue to live on in every story shared, every smile passed down, and every heart she touched.
A celebration of Priscilla’s life will be held on Friday July 18, 2025 at 11am at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, Ct. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Burial to follow at Hamden Plains Cemetery, Hamden. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
