In Loving Memory of Raymond T. Matthews

Raymond T. Matthews was born on May 26, 1965, in New Haven, Connecticut, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He attended Wilbur Cross High School and Richard C. Lee High School. Raymond was a hardworking man who held several occupations throughout his life. He worked as a contractor and painter, as well as a private driver and school bus driver for DATTCO Bus Company. He took pride in his work and in providing for those he loved.

After a long battle with cancer, Raymond peacefully passed away. He was a lover of fishing and enjoyed spending time doing the things he loved.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Matthews, and his sister, Lavern Matthews.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sharon Blue; his brothers, Billy Matthews and Randolph Matthews; his sister, Charlene Mims; his mother, Rose Lee Reeves; his nephews, Billy Jr. and Lamont Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Raymond will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of fishing, and the memories he created with the people who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The celebration of Raymond's life will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden Connecticut, 06514. Viewing will take place at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com.
