Regena Crockett was born on August 18, 1951 at 8:30 p.m. in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Lerlene Billups (Clark) and Gus Newbury. She passed into eternal rest on January 29, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital at the age of 72 years old.

She is survived by her children Earl Sherod (Alexandria) Givan of Hamden, Timothy (Terry) Crockett, and Terrell Crockett both of New Haven; her siblings, Rosa (Donald) Harrington of Virginia, James Givan Jr of Alabama, Douglas (Delphine) Billups of Florida, Fred Billups of New Haven, Deacon Thomas (Catherine) Billups of Wallingford, and Michael (Virlinda) Billups of Hamden; grandchildren Jolisa and Earl Givan of Florida, Timothy Jr. Keyonna, and Regena Crockett all of New Haven, Nicole Pastore of Middletown; six great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and life long friends/relatives from her childhood home on Hamilton Street in New Haven.

Regena was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Greene. She is also predeceased by her grandson Tylon Crockett and six siblings; Ethel Johnson & Alice Billups of New Haven, Lavon Givan of New Haven, Denise, Eric, and Leroy Givan all of Alabama.

God’s cherished daughter Regena was affectionately called Gena by many and Jean by others. Gena attended Lee High School in New Haven and later worked as a Teachers Aide for the Early Learning Center in New Haven. She loved children, cooking, dancing, candy, music, and the color red. In her twenties she enjoyed playing softball, shopping, and dining with her beloved sisters. Gina was a woman with many struggles and victories, and now she has gone on to rest with our Father in heaven.

Psalms 91:14-15 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

Calling hours will be at The Beulah Heights First Pentecostal Church located at 782 Orchard Street, New Haven, CT 06511 on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Homegoing Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com
