Reginald Evans

Reginald Evans, 67, of New Haven, Connecticut, gained his wings and entered eternal rest on June 8, 2026, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was born on March 26, 1959, in Durham, North Carolina to the late William and Eva Evans. Reginald, more intimately known to his family and friends as (Reggie or Dirty Red) lived a life rooted in family, faith, laughter, and community.

Reginald moved to Connecticut in 1966 alongside his parents and siblings and spent his adult life in New Haven. He graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1976. Throughout the years, he dedicated himself to hard work, holding positions with Amtrak and later at New Haven Board of Education. Reginald was a devoted and active member of Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church.

To know Reginald was truly to love him. He was the life of the party — kind-hearted, caring, funny, and full of joy. He loved his family deeply and embraced life to the fullest. Whether he was fishing, playing spades, enjoying music, dancing, or proudly riding in his beloved brown truck, Reginald brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. He was known for his lively spirit and trademark catchphrases, most notably “Who told ya”.

He leaves to cherish and continue his legacy: his two sons, Kendrick Baker (Ledisi) and Brandon Evans; his siblings Stanley Evans, Theresa Bellamy, Mavis Evans, Tony Evans (Robin), Kenneth Evans (Yolanda), and Della Evans; his beloved aunts Becky Jones (Earlie) and Betty Jean Evans; his three grandchildren, Kaliyah Bethea, Tyanna Evans, and Kaden Baker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Reginald was predeceased by his parents, William and Eva Evans; his maternal grandparents, Miranda and Jonny Beck; paternal grandparents Joe Nathan and Della Mae Evans; brothers William Harris and Willie “Toby” Evans; nephews Tyrese Evans and William “Nate” Evans and brother-in-law Darrell Bellamy.

Reginald’s love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be truly missed.

A celebration of Reginald's Life will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, 425 Newhall Street, Hamden, CT 06517. Viewing will take place at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
