Richard “Ricky” Anthony McDonald Sr., 63 of West Haven CT passed away unexpectedly on June 28th 2023. He was born on August 3rd, 1959 in New Haven, CT to Marion J. Consiglio. He was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving his country from 1979 until 1983 and spent an additional 6 years in the Army Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1989. He is survived by his children Krystal (Billy) Ruiz, Tina (Jose) McDonald and Richard (Elizabeth) McDonald Jr. as well as his grandchildren Christian, Miguel and Karina Vazquez, Kaylani and Krystina Ruiz. Also survived by his aunt Josephine Pearce and uncle Anthony Consiglio, as well as many loving cousins.
He is predeceased by his mother Marion J. Consiglio and adopted father James McDonald, maternal grandparents Julia and James Consiglio Sr., grandson Joshua Vazquez as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He had a love of motorcycles, old-fashioned cars, and helicopters. He loved maps and could give directions to just about anywhere with ease. He was known for playing his numbers, there was never a time he didn’t have a lottery ticket on him. He was a long time Dallas Cowboy fan and he loved Nascar. He especially loved his children and grandchildren and often expressed how proud he was of them to friends and relatives. He was a hard worker and was often found doing odd jobs all around to help others in need. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 15, 2023 from 2pm-5pm at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden CT 06514. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
