Robert Earl Bromell

Robert Earl Bromell was born to Mr. Herbert Jefferson Bromell and Mrs. Mary Lee Holmes Bromell. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, Nathaniel LeJay Holmes and Calvin Bromell. His Maternal grandparents, Legrand and Sally Ann Holmes. His paternal grandparents, Doctor and Beulah Bromell.

Robert was born on December 7, 1958, in Georgetown, SC then moved to New Haven Connecticut at a very early age. He peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 24, 2023.

He was affectionately known as “Earl” and “Rob” by his family and friends. Robert received his education in the public schools of New Haven, CT where he graduated from ELI Whitney in 1978.

Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Airforce in July 1978 until February 1982 when he Retired Honorable. Shortly, thereafter he moved to Alexandria, Virginia in 1992 where he worked as a Management Analyst at the Defense Logistics Agency. In 1993 he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Southern Connecticut State University. While studying at Southern University he was employed as a Budget Analyst (Team Lead) from 1993-2003 at the Defense Logistics Agency. In 1995 he decided to further his education and received his master’s degree in financial management from Troy University. In December 1999 until 2004 Robert served as Chief Master Sergeant/E9 at the Headquarters District of Columbia Air National Guard where he retired honorable. In June of 2005 Robert received another advance degree his Master of Science degree from Industrial College of Armed forces. Until he retired, Robert served as the Deputy Budget officer at the Department of Homeland Security from 2005 until 2014 in Washington, DC.

His loved ones that will cherish his memories forever are his six sisters Daisy Robinson, Harriett (Roland)Smith, Sarah(James)Harris, Marie Bromell all of New Haven CT, Patricia Alford of West Haven CT and Joyce Bromell of Wolcott CT. Two brothers Raymond(Lamepa)Bromell of Alexandria VA, Rockie(Margaret)Bromell of Carolina RI and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 12pm at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden CT 06514. Viewing in Colonial from 11am-12pm. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
