Roosevelt Washington Jones Sr.

On March 5, 2025 Roosevelt passed away peacefully at Civita Nursing Facility in Milford, CT at the age of 92. Roosevelt was born in Waycross, Georgia. Roosevelt lived in New Haven and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School. Roosevelt met his wife Helen Vanderburgh then relocated to Lake Wales, Florida. Roosevelt had various jobs there. Roosevelt and his family moved to New Haven, CT in 1969. Roosevelt retired from Long Wharf Theater, Roosevelt played the trumpet. He loved music and especially love to dance. He is survived by his three sons, Richie, Jymeson (Lisa) and Kevin Jones, two daughters Sharon Jones, and Regina Jones-Williams, two stepson‘s Curtis and Darnell Henry, 39 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren. A host of cousins and friends. Roosevelt was predeceased by his wife Helen Jones, his son Roosevelt Jones Jr., stepson Thaddeus, and stepdaughter Dalze Henry.

A celebration of Roosevelt’s life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Viewing from 12-1pm and funeral at 1pm. Interment is private to the family. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
