Rosie Lee Swain

Rosie Lee (Jones) (Webb) Swain, born on July 27, 1924, in Montgomery, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.  She was the daughter of the late Roger and Estelle (Williams) Jones. She was predeceased by her husband, James C. Swain, Sr.  They were blessed with nine children: Diane (James) Holley of Waterbury, James (Loray) Swain of Waterbury, Luellan Swain of Waterbury, Cornell (Margie) Swain of Conway, SC, Ernest (Carrie) Swain of Waterbury, Lucius Swain of Waterbury, Violet Swain of Waterbury, Rose (Dwayne) Graves of Waterbury, and Katherine Swain of Waterbury.  She was further blessed with 32 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.  She also leaves two sisters, Louise Jones and Clara Phelps of Cleveland, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She was predeceased by a son, Relious Webb, Jr., a sister, Katherine Davis, and a brother, Robert Jones.  Mrs. Swain was a faithful member and beloved mother of the Rock of Ages Christian Church and will be greatly missed by her church family.

Calling hour will be held on Tuesday, October 10 at 10:00am followed by the funeral at 11:00am at Zion Baptist Church 137 Pearl Street in Waterbury.  Burial will be at the State of Connecticut Veterans’ Cemetery in Middletown, CT. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
