Roslyn (Petteway) Campbell of Hamden, Ct. passed away peacefully on the morning of June 27, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital. Ros was born in Waterbury, Ct on November 26, 1974 to Leny O. and the late Sallie (Gray) Petteway. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, and Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Ct. with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Ros was a 26 1/2 year employee of the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch. She worked in the New Haven and Waterbury offices of the Support Enforcement Unit, before transferring to the Branch’s Court Support Services Division where she served as a Compliance Specialist in the Programs and Services Unit. She was later promoted to a Court Planner, working with juvenile and adult service providers. Ros completed the certification program of University of New Haven’s Tow Youth Justice Institute, and was a board member of HELP, Inc. in Waterbury, Ct.; and McCall Behavioral Health Network in Torrington, Ct. She was a life-long member of Christ CME Church in Waterbury, Ct.
Ros is survived by her husband, Mike Campbell and daughters, Taya and Maiya Campbell of Hamden; her father, Leny O. Petteway of Waterbury; her brother, Mark (Kim) Petteway; and sisters, Lovie (Dennis) Roscoe, and Gail (Michael) Hardy, all of Waterbury. She also leaves an aunt, uncle, several nephews, nieces and a host of cousins. Additionally, Ros leaves her very special “like-sisters,” Sancha Works and Carmen Head; and very special friends, Sandy Davis and Carmen Garcia Hernandez. Ros was a devoted “dog mom” to her bully babies, Yoda and Beats. Eight months ago, Ros was pre-deceased by her mother, Sallie (Gray) Petteway; and her brother, Leny O. Petteway, Jr. (Crystal).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 (on what would have been her parent’s 67th wedding anniversary and what would have been her brother’s 59th birthday), at 10:00 a.m., at Christ CME Church, 32 Maple Street Waterbury, Ct, with a wake from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Her services will be live-streamed through Facebook Live, beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury, immediately following the service. A wake will also be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 pm at the Colonial Funeral, 86 Circular Avenue Hamden, Ct. James R.
