Sammie Swint was born on November 28, 1937, to Moses and Ruthie Mae Swint in Washington County, Georgia. He was called home peacefully departing on April 2, 2026.

Sammie received his education in Georgia and relocated to Connecticut in his early twenties. He operated an industrial and residential cleaning business for several years and later retired from Marlin Firearms after 32 years of dedicated service. Sammie had a lifelong passion for automobiles and was highly skilled at working on them and driving them. He also enjoyed traveling, especially cruising with his wife, attending family reunions, fishing, and walking along the beach.

Sammie was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Huttie, Lun, Willie, Moses Jr., Robert, Pearl, Leola, Verdell, Betty, Della Mae, Mattie, Annie Ruth, and Rosetta.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 58 years, Edie Swint; two sisters, Ethelene Wilson of New Haven, Connecticut, and Virginia James of Hephzibah, Georgia; daughters Joyce Oliver-Adam of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Felicia Swint-Andrews of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Rhonda Nelson-Sheffield of New Haven, Connecticut; sons Ronnie Watts of Sandersville, Georgia, and Carlin Todd Swint of Alexandria, Virginia; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

A celebration of Sammie's life will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden CT, 06514. A viewing will take place at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com.
