Beloved Family Man Samuel Carter
Mr. Samuel Carter 90, of Waterbury died Wednesday January 17, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was the widower of Rachel (Hurdle) Carter. Samuel was born December 1, 1933, in Gatesville, N.C. son of the late Shedrick Carter Sr. and Lucille (Bond) Carter. Prior to his retirement from the Cheshire Public School system, he worked at Chase Brass and Copper, Ansonia Copper and Brass, Seymour Wire Company and Bridgeport Brass. He was a longtime member of Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed discussing politics, and gardening. He was well trusted and always there to lend a hand to many family and friends with a smile. He leaves to mourn his memories three daughters Vickie Carter, Jocelyn (Carter) Faille and Tanya Carter all of Waterbury. His brother Paul Carter of Michigan and many nieces, nephews cousins and extended family. Besides hid wife Rachel, he was predeceased by sisters, Joan Daniels, Juanita Johnson, Connie Jenkins and Daphne Nowell, Pennia White and Irma Carter Roberts. Brothers Alphonso, Shedrick Jr., Robert, Chester, and Jerry. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and respiratory staff for their kindness shown at Waterbury Hospital.
A celebration of Samuel’s life will be held on Wednesday January 24, 2024 at 11am at Zion Baptist Church. Viewing in Church from 10am-11am. Burial to follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery.
