Shalaysia Nicole Brown, age 29, of New Haven, passed away on October 2, 2024. She was born on November 7, 1994, in New Haven, beloved daughter of Towanda Brown and Elbert Calhoun. Loving mother of Nyonna Moreau, Kylee Tinsley, Kanije Tinsley, and predeceased by one son Kanije Brown. Cherished sister of Jayla Lasane, Nye Trinity Brown, Christopher Glover, Jaeel, Letrell, Javaun, Malachi Calhoun, Survive by maternal grandparents Brenda Tarver and Alto Tarver, paternal grandparents Elbert and Patricia Calhoun, and Betty Fay Hanna. Also survived by uncles Jeffery Hanna, Jason Suggs, Michael Calhoun, Jason Calhoun, Isaiah Hanna, aunt Tracy Wilder and one great aunt Burena Brown. She was additionally survived by an abundance of family, including aunts, uncles, cousin. Shalaysia was the first born and was a bundle of joy to all who was in her life. She loved to dress up and wear her lip gloss, influenced by her God mother/cousin Nicole Swint. Shalaysia was very friendly and loved all animals especially the house hold pet Baby and Mickey. She loved her family especially her children. She was given the nick name LAY-LAY by our cousin Debra. She was well loved and cared for by her grandparents. She had the passion to become a veterinary. She was Elbert first born and only daughter, and Shalaysia will always be his little princess.

A Celebration of Shalaysia’s life will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 12pm. in Bethel Temple Church of God, 112 Frank Street, New Haven. Viewing in Church from 11-12pm. Burial to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at www.Colonialfunerals.com.
