Shawn Eric Samuel

It brings the Samuel family Great sadness to announce that on April 18, 2023 we lost a father, husband and brother, Shawn Samuel Sr., known as “Shaggy Mutt” who was born in New Haven, CT on August 30, 1969, son to the late Patricia Brown Samuel and late Ceails Samuel Sr., both of New Haven, CT. Shawn grew up in Brookside (Out the Way) where he created lifelong friendships and bonds. Shawn attended Hillhouse High School. He worked as a licensed HVAC technician for over 20 years. Shawn was a member of Sweet Hope Church where he made the decision to commit his life to Christ and began training to become a deacon. Shawn loved to go fishing, ride his motorcycle and watch sports, but he was mostly known for cutting on any and everyone. He was funny, full of life and a straight to the point type of man. Everyone loved him for his unapologetic personality and his sincere generosity. Shawn leaves to cherish his memory; His wife, Laurel Samuel. His daughter; Shayla Samuel, and his three sons; Shawn Samuel Jr., Letrell Samuel, and Gordon Samuel. His sister; Arlevia Tequel Samuel. His brothers; Kenneth Rawls and Ceails Samuel Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Shawn was loved by many and will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Samuel’s life will be held on Friday April 28, 2023 at 11am at Bethel AME Church, 255 Goffe Street, New Haven. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Interment to to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
