Shelly Mae Green Cornelius passed peacefully from this life the morning of August 25, 2019, after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life. On July 28, 1942, Shelly was born in Columbia, SC to the late Bennie Green and Nannie Carter. Although, born in Columbia, SC she has been a long time resident of 365 Orchard Street, apt 7 New Haven, CT since 1969. Shelly worked at UTC Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a machine operator. After 32 years of service, she retired in 2000. Shelly was a loving, nurturing, and compassionate mother of three surviving children: Daughter, Veronica and two sons, Teddy and Virlius Jr.(Wink). Shelly was the loving grandmother to sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Shelly is also survived by her brothers: Donnell and Stanley Green and sisters: Lottie Mae Quarles, Dollie Mae Smith, Carol Miles, and Lucille Green. She was predeceased by her husband Virlius L. Cornelius Sr., her brothers: Ricky Green, Buster Green, and Clarence Green. Sisters: Joanne Green, Mary Louis Green, Lula Bell Dixon, and Mary Tillman. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to special friends of our family who shared fond memorial of Shelly: Tracy Williams, Darren Mills, Theda Edwards, Kavon Rose, and Sydney Wylie. Shelly Mae Green Cornelius had so much love and goodness in her heart and never failed to share it. She will be truly missed by with all whom she came into contact.

A Celebration of Shelly life will be held on Tuesday September 3, 2019 at Trinity Temple Church of God In Christ, 285 Dixwell Avenue New Haven at 11am. Viewing in Church from 10-11am. Burial will be held in South Carolina. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
