Shimshon Higgs, 71, of Waterbury, Connecticut, passed away at home on June 28, 2026,with his sister, Adina Higgs, his nephew, Chaim Russ, and his niece and devoted caregiver, Sylvia Russ.
Born in New York, New York, on November 20th, 1954, he was the beloved son of Sylvia Roberts Higgs and John Emmanuel Higgs. He received his education at a private school and subsequently enjoyed a rewarding career as a craftsman and butcher.
Shimshon cherished tranquility above all else, and particularly in his later years, he found great pleasure in watching his favorite programs and indulging in meals from Burger King or Arby’s, always accompanied by cookies.
He was recognized for his talents as a jewelry maker, martial artist, musician, and was considered one of the most skilled dancers in his family. His distinctive personality, intellect, and sharp wit consistently left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. As the middle child among nine siblings, he preferred not to be the center of attention but always appreciated comfort. Shimshon expressed his affection by generously offering advice, knowledge, and profound wisdom to those he believed would benefit from it.
Shimshon was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvia and John Higgs; his brothers, Dovid, Yowkonon, and Benyomin Higgs; and his sister, Soro Amatus-Sabur.
His legacy of wisdom and wit lives on through his son, Charles Anthony; and his cherished grandchildren, Elijah, Chloe, and Imani. He is also survived and deeply missed by his sisters, Rifka and Adina Higgs; his younger brothers, Michael and Tyrone Higgs; and a multitude of very special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces who held a close bond with him.
