Shirley Ann Jackson of New Haven, CT departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 30, 2021. She was born on April, 3, 1953. She was the daughter of the late William E. and Shirley M. Housley of New Haven, CT. She attended Richard C, Lee High School and then started her career at Yale Univeristy in 1971 at the age of 18 years old, where she then retired in 2008. Shirley was the Devoted Mother of Shamont M. Payne and Melloney Housley of New Haven, CT. Grandmother of Nicole D. Smith of West Haven, CT, Shamonda T. Housley, Lamar C. Jones and Reign S. Jones all of New Haven, CT. Also Great Grandmother of Dasani C.L. Green, Vashauna L. Lewis of New Haven, CT and Quinton M. Mcintyre III(the 3rd) of West Haven, CT. In addition she leaves to cherish her memories her sisters Loretta Housley of Hamden, CT Cheryl Housley of New Haven, CT and Yolande S. (Richard) Moncrease of Little River SC and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The simplest pleasures brought great joy to Shirley. She loved to cook and shared her passions by catering private events. She had an uncanny abiity to find happiness in her daily activities, whether it was shopping at thirft stores or finding hidden gems at tag sales. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. Shirley also enjoyed listening to the soulful sounds of Anita Baker while she was in the kitchen making one of her favorite Italain dishes. Shirley was predeceased in death by maternal grandparents Wellington and Bertha Mitchell and paternal grandparents , a sister Lucette Housley of New Haven, CT, 3 brothers William, Curtis and Norman Housley all of New Haven, CT, also by a special friend Robert Reid. Each of her loved ones will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Shirley was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 at 11am at Colonial Funerals, Hamden. Viewing will be in Colonial from 10am to 11am. Interment will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
