Stanley Hester, 57, passed away on December 31, 2025, in Meriden, Connecticut. Born on October 24, 1968, in New York City. Stanley lived a life marked by service, passion, and an unforgettable presence.
Stan was raised in Connecticut and educated in the Wallingford School System. From a young age, he exhibited a bold spirit and an outgoing nature that would become his hallmark throughout life. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was deployed during the Gulf War—a chapter of his life that reflected his courage and commitment.
Following his military service, Stan built a career rooted in dedication and hard work. For over a decade, he was a faithful employee of Ulbrich Steel. In addition to his work there, he pursued real estate with enthusiasm and drive. His professional endeavors were matched only by the energy he brought to every aspect of his life.
Stan’s personality was larger than life—both literally and figuratively. A towering figure with a booming voice that could fill any room, he had an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether among close friends or complete strangers, Stan’s warmth and charisma made everyone feel welcome. His presence was magnetic; if Stan was in the room, you knew it.
A devoted Christian raised in the church, Stan carried those values with him throughout his life. His faith provided a foundation for the way he treated others—with kindness, openness, and generosity.
One of Stan’s greatest passions was golf. He approached the game with fierce competitiveness and unshakable confidence—there was never a golfer created that Stan didn’t think he could beat. His love for golf extended far beyond the fairways; it connected him to countless friends across many courses and communities. His highly competitive golf group brought him immense joy and camaraderie over the years.
Stan also held a lifelong allegiance to the San Francisco 49ers. Through wins and losses alike, he remained a loyal fan—cheering passionately for his team with the same intensity he brought to everything else in life.
Stan leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory: his loving son, Stanley Hester Jr, his parents Roland and Patricia Gilliam; his older brother Bryan; and his two younger sisters Tara and Catherine. In addition to his siblings, Stan is predeceased by his younger brother Hatari Hester.
To know Stanley Hester was to experience joy, laughter, spirited conversation—and perhaps some good-natured trash talk on the golf course or during football season. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire strength, humor, and connection in their lives.
A celebration of Stanley's life will be held on January 3, 2026, from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM at Colonial Funerals 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
