Starr Kania

Starr Kania Starr Kania, 62, took her eternal rest on Friday, June 5, 2026 surrounded by her family in Hartford, CT. Starr was born in Waterbury, CT on June 28, 1963, daughter of the late Eleanore (LeVasseur) Deziel. She was predeceased by her sister, Wanda DeSorbo. Starr valued the simple ways of life. She loved trying new foods, had a great sense of humor, loved running and enjoyed being with nature. She absolutely loved all animals, especially her fur-baby Cadbury who crossed over the rainbow bridge in 2019. Starr also loved to cook and looked forward to her morning coffee. Starr loved her family deeply. Starr is survived by her fiance, Moses Gooch of Waterbury; her children, Elizabeth Capella, Alesia (Rashime) Ettson, and Alexander Gatling - all of Waterbury, CT as well as Raven Tuck of Boston, MA and six grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepfather, Edgar Deziel of Knoxville, TN, sister Dawn Natale of Waterbury, CT and brother Richard Kania of Bantam, TN, as well as her nieces Jessica Natale and Amber Lee Black and nephew Derek Paul Natale, all of Waterbury, CT.

The memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 65 Kingsbury Street, Waterbury. There will be no calling hours. Colonial Funerals LLC, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury has been entrusted with Starr’s arrangements with James R. Sanders, Funeral Director.
