Waterbury, CT Loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully at age 78. She was the loving wife of William A. Hehl Sr. for 58 years.
Stella was born in Waterbury to the parents Lucia and Albert Fortier on December 1st. 1945. One of nine children, she attended St. Anne’s Catholic School spending her afternoons helping to care for her brothers and sisters while her mother worked. Stella later transferred those skills working as a caregiver and housekeeper for several Waterbury families. She met her husband William A. Hehl of Covington, Kentucky in 1961. Later having two children William A. Hehl.Jr. and Terri Hehl Stella later dedicated her time volunteering as a teacher of catholicism at St. Margaret’s Church and as a librarian at the Driggs School library. Stella’s hobbies included sewing, crocheting, reading, and baking. Stella had a special appreciation for the holidays, going above and beyond for her family to make them as memorable as possible.
Stella joins her husband William A. Hehl Sr. and is survived by her son William A. Hehl Jr., daughter in law Susan, daughter Terri Hehl, grandson Lucas Hehl and his wife Kaitlyn, grandson Austin Hehl. and great grandson Noah Hehl. She is also survived by two brothers and three sisters.
