Celebrating the Life of Taffred Ann Vassell

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Taffred Ann Vassell, also known as Ann, who peacefully entered eternal rest on June 30, 2026, in West Haven, Connecticut, at the age of 77.

Born Taffred Ann Carmichael on May 11, 1949, in Rose Hall, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to Irene Samuel and Hanes Carmichael, she was a proud Vincentian whose strength, resilience, kindness, and unwavering love for family shaped every chapter of her life. The values she learned growing up in St. Vincent remained with her throughout her journey and were reflected in the way she cared for others and welcomed everyone into her home.

In July 1969, Taffred courageously migrated to the United States in search of greater opportunities. Through hard work, determination, and faith, she built a life filled with purpose, love, and service to others.

On October 13, 1971, she married the love of her life, Roy Vassell, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, commitment, and family. Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy, and her dear brother, Charles.

For 46 years, Taffred faithfully served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), dedicating her life to caring for the elderly. She approached every patient with compassion, patience, dignity, and respect, treating those in her care as she would members of her own family. Her work was not simply a profession—it was a calling that reflected the generous and nurturing spirit that defined her life.

Outside of work, Taffred found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She treasured quiet moments, found peace in tending her garden, enjoyed shopping, and took great pride in decorating her home, creating a beautiful and welcoming space for family and friends. Above all, she loved spending time with those she held dear. Whether sharing meals, stories, or laughter, she made every gathering feel special and every person feel loved.

She leaves behind five loving siblings: Elneth, Arthur, Ronald, Charmaine, and Susan, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness and generosity. Her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Today, while we mourn her passing, we celebrate a life beautifully lived. Taffred’s legacy is one of faith, perseverance, compassion, and unconditional love. She leaves behind not only treasured memories but also an enduring example of grace, strength, and selfless service.

Though she has entered her eternal rest, her love remains rooted in the hearts of her family, blooming in every act of kindness, every shared laugh, every family gathering, and every memory that brings a smile. We celebrate her life with thanksgiving, honoring the remarkable woman she was and the lasting impact she made on everyone she encountered.

Rest peacefully, Taffred. Your work is done, your love endures, and your legacy will live on for generations to come.
