On May 21, 2018 Theodore Jeffrey Heyward was called home to eternal rest. He was born on June 27, 1955 in Waterbury, Ct to the late Wilbert C. and Katherine (Byrd) Heyward. He was united in Holy Matrimony on June 1, 1996 to Cynthia G. DeWitt. He grew up in New Haven and graduated from Hillhouse High School. He was employed by the United Illuminating Company, PSCG in New Haven before transferring to Bridgeport, CT, as a Power-plant Supervisor for 43 years until his retirement.To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife of 21 years, Cynthia Heyward; Sons: Jeffrey Reddick (Bonita) of Orange Park, FL, Brandon Reddick of New Haven, CT, Brian Heyward of New Haven, CT; Daughters: Kenya Heyward Cox (Dennis) of West Haven, CT, and Stepdaughter Tonya Dewitt Clark (Christopher) of Hamden, CT.Surviving siblings: 2 Sisters: Shirley Heyward of New Haven, CT and Judy Beamon of Waterbury, CT; 5 Brothers: Wilbert Heyward, Kevin Heyward and Ronald Heyward of New Haven, CT; Gary Heyward of Waterbury, CT and William Heyward of West Haven, CT; 17 Grand-children, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Heyward and Wayne Heyward of New Haven, CT and 2 sisters: Catherine Stewart of New Haven, CT and Charlotte Taylor of Waterbury, CT.
A Celebration of Theodore’s life will be held on Tuesday May 29, 2018 in Colonial, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden at 11 a.m. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11 a.m. Condolences may be expressed at colonialfunerals.com
