Torrey Leon Cogdell

Torrey Leon Cogdell age 57, of Derby, entered into eternal life on Friday, January 3, 2020. He was born on September 29, 1962 in New Haven to Frank L. Cogdell and Apostle Helen L. Cogdell. He graduated from Springfield Technical High School of Springfield, MA in 1981. He was a former employee of Kidney Dialysis Center of Springfield MA, Dunkin Donuts and Superintendent/Property Manager at various multi-dwellings in the New Haven area. He was a member of Mt. Hope Temple Church, New Haven, CT where he attended weekly services.

He leaves to cherish in his memory 2 sons Andre Hall, of New York, N.Y. and Tariq Cogdell of New Haven, CT., 4 daughters Shameka Conway (Christopher) of Atlanta, GA., Dionna Cogdell of Springfield, MA., Tiera Cogdell of Ansonia, CT, and Torrey Leona Cogdell of Hartford, Ct., 5 grandchildren: Jontae Bradford, Tyonna and Sy-Niah Conway, Destiny and Ty’Mir Taylor. He was also survived by his father Frank L. Cogdell of Detroit, MI., his mother Apostle Helen L. Cogdell of Hamden, CT., 2 sisters Rosetta Richardson and Cynthia Lowery aka ‘Sissy’ (William) both of Hamden, CT., a brother Kelvin Cogdell (Tammy) of Springfield, MA., several nieces and nephews and a host of loving relatives and friends. Torrey was predeceased by his grandmothers Senetta Beckwith and Ellean Cogdell.

A Celebration of Torrey’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Mt. Hope Temple Church 555 Dixwell Ave, New Haven.  Viewing from 10-11am; service at 11am. Condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfunerals.com.
