Vonnie Lee Stewart entered into eternal life on April 15, 2025. She was born to Hattie Wyatt and Roosevelt Keith on February 4, 1934 in Bowdon, Georgia. A long time resident of New Haven and Hamden CT, Vonnie’s life’s work consisted of gardening, homemaking, and fostering children.
Vonnie had a funny personality, caring spirit and a heart of gold. She loved to cook and spend time with her family. If she wasn’t going grocery shopping or pickling hot peppers, she would be relaxing and watching All My Children and General Hospital. Whenever she got the chance she would take walks and spend time with her best friend Shirley Parker. Vonnie also loved her pets, especially her dogs, Danny & Flash. She loved going to church on Sundays at New Life Deliverance Ministries as well as spending time with her church family. She was known to have her favorite gospel songs playing daily.
Vonnie leaves to cherish her memories; Marcia Rogers (Corky Rogers), Norman Dye (California), Parthie Cooper, Nancy Cooper, Deborah Woods (James Woods), Patricia Stewart, Michelle Stewart, Joseph Stewart, Lawanda Stewart, Helena Stewart, Candice Cooper, Tymar Cooper, and Sayquan Cooper, all of New Haven CT. Her brother Leon Keith, (Georgia), sisters Betty Cooper, (Georgia), Sarah Moore (Georgia), and Linda Keith (New Haven). As well as grands, great-grands, great-great grands and a host of family and friends.
Vonnie was predeceased by her parents, brother Leroy Keith, sisters Joanne Sewell & Louise Colvin, and grandsons Darick Cooper & Kenneth Cooper.
A celebration of Vonnie’s life will be held on Wednesday April 30, 2025 at 11am at Colonial Funerals 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden, CT. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
