Wallace Lorenzo White, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025 after a long illness. Wallace was born In Gates County, NC on Feb. 11, 1939 to Bertha (White) Goodman and Charlie Boone, and was the oldest of 10 children.
On March 27, 1986, Wallace married the love of his life, Lenora C. Andrade White, in Waterbury, CT. They lived a wonderful life together until Lenora’s death on their 35th wedding anniversary, March 27, 2021. To say that Wallace was a loving and caring husband for all of their years together is truly an understatement, and he will be forever known in the family as a wonderful caregiver and helpmate to his devoted wife.
Wallace received his early education at Corapeake Grammar school in Corapeake, NC and attended T.S. Cooper High School in Sunbury, NC. He obtained his General Education Degree from Waterbury Adult Continuing Education on June 30, 1987. Before his retirement, Wallace was employed as a construction worker and as a tire technician. He enjoyed playing pool, solving jumble puzzles, reading, plants and music. In his early years, he enjoyed dancing, and sometimes challenged his younger sisters and brothers with his dancing prowess!
For many years, Wallace was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized on January 20, 1996. Wallace knew the bible very well and could readily recite many verses and stories from the bible, because it was a book which he deeply loved and respected.
Wallace leaves to cherish his memory a large and loving family, which includes Cleophus Goodman, Jr., Elton Goodman (Marion), Carolyn Goodman Spinola, Regina Goodman Davy (Carlton), Ollie Goodman Grimsley and Margaret Goodman Williams (Moncure). All are residents of Waterbury, CT. He was predeceased by his mother, Bertha White Goodman and stepfather Cleophus Goodman, Sr. and by 3 siblings, Robert Earl White, Russell E. Goodman and Geraldine Goodman. In addition, he joined a devoted and loving family when he married Lenora, and they will always consider him one of their own. They are two stepdaughters, Lenora (Andrade) Whitaker (Earl) of New Haven, CT, Charlotte Andrade of Waterbury, CT and a stepson, Armando G. Andrade, now deceased. It should be noted that, after the death of Wallace’s wife, Charlotte lived with him and provided excellent care in his final days. In addition, the wife of Armando, his daughter-in-law, Suzanne G. Andrade of Waterbury, cared deeply for Wallace and provided much-needed assistance to him in many ways as he aged. Wallace also leaves to mourn his loss 9 grandchildren, a host of great- and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives who will remember him fondly. Wallace was a soft-spoken and gentle man, as well as a gentleman in all he did and will be remembered as such by everyone.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 2:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2670 North Main Street, Waterbury, CT.
