Wayne Elliot Hill Jr.

On Thursday, October 21, 2021, Specialist Wayne Elliot Hill Jr, loving husband and father passed away at the age of 39 in New Haven, CT. Wayne was born on September 8, 1982 in Bronx, NY to Deborah and Wayne Hill. Wayne was best known for his infectious smile, great sense of humor as well as his kind and caring nature. Wayne worked many years for Securitas while living in New York City. He eventually left the Bronx and moved to Connecticut where he spent the last years 12 years of his life. Wayne worked for The Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven and was currently working at the Juvenile Detention Center in Hartford.

Wayne was loved by everyone! At very early age he had a passion for brotherhood. He went from a cub scout to a boy scout to later serve honorably as a Specialist with the US Army National Guard of Connecticut in 2015. Wayne spent 12 months at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba as a MOS 31E (Corrections Officer). If you really knew Wayne you know he loved his family. Family gatherings would light up his heart. When he was a little boy he would love to go to his grandmother’s house and he had to be dressed in a suit. When he moved to Harford CT, he was adopted as a brother, uncle and friend into his wife Maria’s close knit family. Wayne was a very smart guy, you always wanted Wayne on your team if you were playing any kind of word or trivia games. The simplest pleasures in life, such as reading, fishing and cooking. He could be so stubborn at times, we could never get him to add the milk to the mac and cheese. He was the designated grill master at most of the family BBQs. Christmas at the house was always an event everyone would look forward to every year. We will all miss the joy and love he brought into our lives.

Wayne is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Elliot Hill, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother Deborah Hill; his wife, Maria and his six children; Raven Jackson, Robert Perez, Jackson Jones Hill, Kelcey Perez, Isiah and Matthew Hill. His sister Keisha Hill and niece, Tatiana Rhodes. Great Aunt, Ethel Darden; Aunts – Alberta Hill, Patricia and Carolyn Garris. Uncles – John Paul Hardy and Rayman Hill. Sisters and brothers-in-law; Milly and Coco Leon, Yoga Zayas, Norman Algarin, Jerry & Maria Leon, Cay Torres & Alonzo Hazel, Michelle, Cano & Zuly Torres, Barbara Vega, Betty Oregel. As well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Monday November 1, 2021 in Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden at 10am. Military Honors will follow at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla, New York at 2pm.  Viewing in Colonial from 9-10am. Online condolences may be expressed at www.colonialfunerals.com.
