Willie L Bowman Sr. of New Haven CT was born in Wadesboro, North Carolina on August 16, 1933 to the late Ida Crowder Bowman and Jerry Baxter Bowman. At a young age he attended North Carolina Public Schools. He came to CT in 1954 where he started working at Dietsch Plastic Co. in West Haven, CT for 40 years. He was a truck driver also. He enjoyed music by Al Green, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and a lot of other singers just to name a few. Willie entered into rest on December 1, 2023 at the age of 90. Willie leaves to cherish his sisters Tinnie Cunningham of Washington, DC and Edna Ruth Bowman of West Haven, CT. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory daughters Elizabeth, Theresa, and Rosanne Bowman of New Haven CT, his sons Willie Bowman Jr., Lee Bowman of Fort Myers, Florida and Lord Taylor of New Haven, CT. He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grands and cousins.
Willie L Bowman Sr. was also predeceased by his paternal grandfather Alex Bowman of Wadesboro, North Carolina and his maternal grandmother Susan Crowder Bowman and Artelica Crowder and Perry Knotts, his father Jerry Bowman of Wadesboro, North Carolina and mother Ida Crowder Bowman, brothers Thomas Lee Bowman, Leamond Bowman, Rayford Bowman, Raymond Bowman, Clyde Bowman, Leroy Bowman, Baxter Jerry Bowman, Claude Bowman, two sisters Willie Mae Nicholson, and Ida Mae Young. Also predeceased by ex wife Johnnie Mae Harris Bowman, son Alex Bowman, daughter Janet E Sims Bowman, grandson Johnny M Bowman and great great grandson Johnny Bowman.
A celebration of Willie’s life will be held on Friday December 22, 2023 at 11am at Colonial Funerals, 86 Circular Avenue, Hamden CT. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Condolences may be expressed at Colonialfunerals.com.
